Vale - Lyall Dowell

Lyall Dowell 2.jpg

Lyall Dowell joined Scouting in 1994 as an Assistant Scout Leader with 1st Hastings.. From then until his death in March 2022, Lyall was involved in many different Scouting roles. In 2001 he moved to the Mornington Peninsula District and managed Camp Nyall for many years. He and his wife, Jenni, joined the Gilweroo team at Gilwell Park in 1998 and he continued to help out the team ever since.

Whenever there was something that needed to be done, Lyall would be the first to chip in and help. There was always that missing widget or tool that was either in the back of his ute or in the shed at home.

Lyall's passing has been a huge loss to the team and our best wishes are extended to Jenni, Troy and Milly.

Farewell - Chris Simpson

After 24 years on the Gilweroo Committee and 27 years as an adult in Scouting, Chris Simpson retired in early 2022. Chris was a vital member of the management committee, providing art work and other computer graphic work to assist in the smooth running of the camp. Chris designed most of the camp's annual badges and also produced the miriad of Activity Cards and Maps used by the scouts every year. We wish him well in retirement.

Farewell - Jeff Pace

Tassie joined the committee at the start of 2015 and has been an active member of the Program and Works and Services area since that time.

Spending many hours in the months leading up to the camp, preparing equipment for activities and helping out on working bees and other Services projects.

He retires this year (2022) and we thank him for his dedicated service over the past 7 and a half years.
