The Gilweroo Team - the Directors

BryanCrow.png
Chief Director (formerly Camp Chief) - Bryan Crow

Bryan has been leading the team since 2000. His guidance has seen the camp grow from less than 300 participants to its peak in 2019, when we hosted over 2500 Scouts with the support from over 160 Venturers.

When things were looking grim for the 2004 camp scheduled at our spiritual home at Gilwell Park, Bryan was able to negotiate a deal with Joseph Harris Park (Bay Park) that saw us run 16 camps between 2004 and 2019.

Founder, Director People - Jon Peart

In 1975, Jon attended his Advanced Scout Wood Badge Course at Gilwell Park along with a number of leaders from other groups. They decided to meet again the following year, with their scouts in tow, and so Gilweroo was born.

The camp has grown over time and we can proudly say that Jon has attended every camp since that first one in 1976.

He continues to support the team with his knowledge and guidance to this day.

Jenni and Lyall Dowell have been helping out at Gilweroo since 1998.

Every year, Jenni has catered for the Committee over the weekend and the week leading up to the camp, as well as catering for some of the independent team that are engaged to assist with certain activities and services. She has also managed the Kiosk during that time.

When we introduced catering for Venturers and Activity Support teams some years ago, Jenni has coordinated that effort.

Director Venturer & Rover Services - Narelle Lowdell

New to the team in 2022, Naz takes on the responsibility for all things Venturers at Gilweroo. This includes the 1st Gilweroo Venturer Unit and the general oversight of the Venturers as they work to support Gilweroo Activities and Services.

Amoung the many hats that Naz wears in Scouting, she is a Venturer leader and also brings a wealth of program knowledge to the team from her role as State Commissioner OAS Leader Support.
