May 2010 Bulletin

Our Gilweroo Committee met on 28th March 2010. We have set our camp numbers for this year to be around 1,000 Scouts.

If you haven’t booked yet, please do so soon as places are filling quickly.

If you have booked, please check you’re listed at http://www.gilweroo.com.au/who_list.html. If not, then book again.

Your booking should be listed within 48 hours. In order to streamline our registration process and the allocation of activity times, we want your scouts preferably in patrols of around 5 or 6. To this end, we will be contacting you with how we see the break up of your youth. For example, a Troop that books for 17 Scouts will be assumed to have them split into three patrols of 6, 6 and 5. You will be asked to confirm these figures and if we don’t hear from you, that is how we will cater for your troop. Certainly, we expect no patrols to be larger than 7 members. If you’ve got 8 kids coming, then we will assume to patrols of 4.

We will be looking for more Leaders assistance this year and as we get closer to the camp date, we will be creating a roster for each activity. Also, we are looking to find helpers on the Thursday and Friday prior to the camp to assist set up activities.

The new Camp Warden is putting a lot of effort into cleaning the camp site of all fallen trees etc. If you think you have a great idea for an activity, please send it to us as we are always looking for some new challenge for our Scouts.

Current activities include: Abseiling, Archery, BMX Bikes, Canoeing, Catapults, Challenge Valley, T-Shirt Screen Printing, Rocket Launchers, Air Rifles, Water Slide, Slot Cars, Volleyball, Bush Boards, Clay Modelling, Disco, Flying Fox, Movie, Frisbee Golf, Lyall's Challenge (Low Ropes), Pyrographics, Space Shuttle, Sock Wrestling, Speed Ball, Sumo Wrestling, Badge Swapping, Tattoos, Catch 4, Twister.

Our committee meetings this year are on Sunday evenings (May 30, July 25, September 12 and October 31) and everyone’s welcome. Contact us for venue and time.
